New Years' Day 2011.

Ikumi and I spent New Year's day at her parent's house. All her family were there. NY day is like the UK's Christmas day - everybody eats, plays games and watches TV. Its also traditional to wear kimono on this day. Shizuku (my niece) loves kimono!

Suwa Shrine. Built in the 17th century. Families all over Nagasaki come here to pray for the coming year.
A "stop lion" at Suwa shrine. The local legend is that if you want help in stopping something ( i.e smoking), you tie a short piece of string to its leg and then ask the gods to help you.

Ritsu (my nephew) loves any kind of food. Whatever Shizuku has, he needs to have too!
