New soundcloud site and forthcoming E.P. release!

It has been a long time coming, but I am finally going to release my E.P. online (possibly an album). I have wanted to record my own material for over a year now, but due to completing my masters degree, it was pretty impossible.

I have carefully built up my own home recording studio (I'm proud to say that about 80% of it is secondhand gear) over the last year and I spent August/September 2012 drafting and recording ideas of songs.  At the moment I have around 10 songs in different states of finishing. The music is a blend sounds in the electronic / experimental / alternative / acoustic / showgazing genres. Yes, that does sound pretentious, but it wasn't meant too as every time I sit down and create something, it always has a different genre than the last song...

I plan to get these songs finished and mixed by Spring 2013.

In the meantime, check out my soundcloud site ( https://soundcloud.com/rebelfighter). Hopefully I will be putting up demo ideas. Anyone is welcome to play with them and contribute to my ideas.

Dirty Rain - Ryan Adams

Happy Monday everyone!

Curtis Mayfield - So in Love

The first time I heard this song was a few weeks ago on Nagasaki FM. This is probably the only good song that I have ever heard on Nagasaki FM. AKB48 - No thanks.  This song is amazing and Curtis Mayfield is (was) probably the most underrated soul singer.  RIP Curtis.

The Night train - James Brown

Lately Mia gets all restless before bedtime, so I play some songs and dance around the room with her. Out of all the songs that I have tried, she ALWAYS falls asleep to this James Brown classic!

You got the love - Candi Staton

Dios mio, I just had my itunes on shuffle and this gem of a track came on. I haven't listened to this 6 minute mix in ages. Let's enjoy.

Pony Pony Run Run - Love Veritable

I first heard of this French band about 1 year ago. I think the album is ok, but for me this is their stand out track. I can listen to this song for alarming periods of time and not get bored of it. Its a great song for lovers of electro/pop/dance, give it try. P.S What the heck does "veritable" mean?

Jimi Hendrix - If 6 was 9

This song is great at any time of the day and gives me the need to jam. Dig!

BRMC - Sweet feeling

This is one of my favourite BRMC songs and great to chill out to.

Ed Harcourt - Born in the 70's

Mia's dad was born in the 70's! Every time I hear this song, I become happy. I hope you do too.

Groove Armada -  "Warsaw"

The last Groove Armada album is probably my favourite of theirs. I especially love the song "Warsaw". It makes me happy, gets my mojo working and I can listen to it over and over without getting bored. Here is a cool live version.

Music

In this part of my blog, I will be posting my choice cuts.

Thursday, April 28th: The White Stripes "Hotel Yorba"

The journey to work usually takes me about 5-6 minutes by car and I like to start the day with an ipod shuffle choice cut. Today as I waved goodbye to Ikumi, "Hotel Yorba" came on. I played it 2 times and I suddenly got the energy!
